Shedding tears, Moses Mburuga said that he paid dowry of 8 goats and Ksh. 45,000 to his in-laws so that he can be allowed to take her home.
His family is said to have stormed his in-laws home, where they untied the goats and loaded them into a waiting pick-ups.Moses bitterly requested his parents to let him leave in peace with his wife who they are blessed with a girl. To Moses, he loves his wife dearly and he could not want to be separated from her.

His wife, after the fracas is said to have taken her belongings and returned back to her parents home.
According to Meru traditions, the action is a curse to the family. This is because once dowry is paid, it is not supposed to be returned.
Moses who lamented that his family further went ahead to take away is properties leaving him with nothing.
Mburugu is pleading with his runaway wife to come back so that they can start their life away from his family which seems not to want them.
