If you are a social media user you must have come across Pastor Ben Kiengei at Some point. He is a pastor and a Kikuyu gospel musician who has moved from grass to fame through hard work and determination within the shortest period of time.
Some hours ago Waithaka Wa Jane among other Kikuyu young musicians were taken to court by JB Maina and wainaina Wa Kiandege over singing their songs in clubs which they termed as copyright issue. Pastor Ben Kiengei has reacted on this through his Facebook page.
According to him, he said when they will die their songs will still be sang by other people and nobody will wake up to warn others to stop singing their songs. He went ahead and said because we sing for those who are alive, they should allow the younger generation to sing their songs since they are delivering the message to the younger generation in a way they understand better.
He added that older musicians should be happy to see the young generation spreading their talent because they sing to leave something behind and not to die with the talent. He also talked to those singing the songs to pay the owners of the songs because you cannot use their work to earn and eat alone.
