Dating back to the days of the Kenyan hip hop scene with the likes of Kalamashaka, Ukoo Flani, Bamboo to Abbas; to the birth and rise of kapuka from the likes of Issa, K-rupt, Kleptomaniacs; to the formation of GENGE with the likes of Nonini, Mejja, Madtraxx, P-Unit; to the ultimate EVOLUTION of GENGETONE, the Kenyan music scene has had its significant growth and richness in history and its future.
Fast forward to the GENGETONE era, the music scene has been quite receptive of the young generation and their music, while embracing their unique and original style to it.
The wave and tide of these genre almost brought the whole industry to its knees, with some of the pioneers of the Kenyan music industry, submitting to its power and eventually switching sides to join the bandwagon.
Three years into the genre, the signs of it dwindling has began to take its course. The monotony and growth of the genre has had the first ever song to be produced of its kind, be the same as the recent ones.
This is a cause of alarm, as the fans are now proving, not only to themselves but to the industry as well, that the genre has run out of its time.
The real question now is.....WHAT NEXT FOR THE KENAYN MUSIC SCENE!!?
