Joyce Wanjiku Njokiwhobis well known as "Joyce WaMamaa" is undoubtedly highly loved for her sweet and sharp voice and music. More than a decade into her musical journey, Joyce is still capturing Kenyans with her well composed and articulated mugithi songs.
The first born in family of 2 children; has continued to grow her fan base with the release of hit songs the latest being "Muriukia". Born and raised in Kongoini, Mukuyu, Murang'a County WaMamaa was introduced to music by the renowned benga musician Wangari wa Kabera, who she met after her form 4.
Her journey has not been a walk in the park, initially Joyce was working as a househelp where she used to earn 4000 Kshs in a month and afterwards worked as a waiter in hotel, where she could earn at least 100 bob in a day.
Joyce acknowledges John Njagi's role into her musical career,who also held her hand after she left at Wangari wa Kabera's.
In 2010, the mother of one recorded her first album "Menya Wari Wakwa,but in 2013 she recorded her second album " Wanjogothaga Nĩkii? " which hit the airwaves and was played more especially in our local vernacular media stations.
