Songwriting Tip #3 #4

Songwriting Tip #3: When writing a song, it is a good idea to keep in mind the structure or format of the song. Ask yourself how many verses there should be. A typical and popular songwriting structure is as follows: Intro, Verse, Chorus (hook), Verse, Chorus, Bridge, Chorus, Outro. Many songs also include a pre-chorus after each versus and before the chorus. Your melody or concept should dictate the song structure you choose. You should also consider the length of your song. Most popular songs are typically 4 minutes and 30 seconds.

Songwriting Tip #4. Get the listener involved. Through my experience of listening to and writing music, the songs that I enjoy the most are typically the songs that I can relate to somehow. When it comes to music, people tend to have a short listening span. Make sure you start your song off with a powerful line or a catchy melody to gain the listener's interest.
