Gathee Wa Njeri ditched himself into the murky world of politics and vied for the Gaturi Member of County Assembly as an independent candidate after losing in the UDA nominations. He banked on his popularity to woo voters and he has reportedly clinched the seat.
The singer took to his Facebook page and shared the good news with his fans. He thanked his supporters for prayers, love and support.
"Thanks for prayers, love and support. God is faithful and our trust in him is always rewarded," he wrote after ousting his competitors.
Popular Kameme FM TV host and disc jockey DJ Qariz is among those who congratulated Gathee Wa Njeri after he clinched the seat. This year's election saw a number of Kenyan celebrities venture into politics.
Jalang'o won the Langat'a seat after ousting the incumbent MP Nixon Korir. Former Churchill Show Comedian MC Jesse also vied for a Parliamentary seat but conceded defeat.
