Former Head of Camera Unit in Citizen Television John Marete will be launching a new TV station on 3rd, May 2021. Mutongoi TV is set to be a Kikamba Station focusing on Kamba audience in Eastern Kenya, Coast region, Kajiado county, and Nairobi county. Marete was unceremoniously fired from Citizen TV in 2016 which forced him to start his station, Weru TV launched in 2017, and Weru FM that broadcasts in Meru vernacular. The Meru stations have been running well and have grown a large audience from the Central Region and Marete wishes to expand the same to the Kamba community where his wife comes from.
The studios are based in Kiamba Mall, Machakos Town and it seems to borrow its content from Weru TV format since before its official launch it is now available to view on Signet Channels. It will be focusing on News matters such as politics through their news program "Vilingi wa Mauvoo", health matters, agriculture, and also entertainment.
Marete is keenly following the footsteps of his former Boss S.K Macharia by having vernacular stations and this is a true definition of how determination and hard work breeds success as speculations are that he will afterward launch a Kamba radio station with the same name. He has deployed digital strategies where you can watch Weru TV online and this has been a great milestone where the station still reaches those in the diaspora.
Mutongoi TV will attract much viewership among the Kamba Community since there is no leading TV station in the region and many are hoping that it will become successful just like the mother TV station broadcasting in Meru vernacular. Among the Kamba artists invited during the official launch is Wilberforce Musyoka, Alex Kasau "Kisinga", Ben Mbatha "Kativui", Alphonce Kioko "Maima", MC Tash, and DJ Biado. Congratulations to John Marete for being outstanding and overcoming all kinds of obstacles to become successful in the Media Industry. Kindly remember to leave a comment.
