The sudden death of Kalenjin gospel musician Willy Korir has raised many questions on what exactly killed him. In this season of Coronavirus, many said the late succumbed to the virus. It has however emerged that Korir has been ailing from respiratory complications for a long. Going in and out of hospitals.
Korir who just released volume 16 of his music died on Monday evening 12th April, according to his family he complained of chest pains while shooting a video of the same in Abosi hills. He was rushed to Gikana health center within the area where he breathed his last.
The Awale Ane Messiah, the hitmaker was a known guitarist and it was through the skill that saw his success in his music. He has however hanged the tool together with his recently launched album which was midway through production.
He began singing in 1986 just after finishing form four at the now-famous Kabungut boys secondary school. His songs were all hits. He was among the pioneers of the Church of God and he preached with vigor across the region.
The hitmaker leaves behind a wife and children. He hailed from Kapweria, Nusu Moel, Transmara, where he is expected to be buried in three days as directed by the President.
He will surely be missed but his music lives with us forever.
