Mt Kenya TV Station, owned by Slopes Media House Ltd, was earlier suspended by the Communications Authority of Kenya for acting ultra-vias against its license. The local aired a program that contains scenes unsuitable for children under the age of 10 years. The program was called 'Free Jimmy".
CA acting DG Mrs Wanjau stated that "Airing of Free Jimmy was in blatant breach of the Broadcasting Regulations, the Programming Code and the T & C of the stations' broadcasting license. She added that the offensive program contained scenes of adults content, drug abuse and robbery was aired at a time when children were likely to be watching the program.
The CA took a stern measure against the station, suspending their airing for 4 weeks. They're also fined sum amount not exceeding Kshs 500k. The editor of the program is also summoned to take same guidance on editorial program to avoid such eventualities.
