Martha Karua was on Saturday, 14 January 2023, showered with praises during the requiem mass of the late veteran journalist Catherine Kasavuli in Vihiga County
Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Sports and the Arts, Ababu Namwamba lauded Martha Karua as one of the true friends who stood with Catherine Kasavuli until she breathed her last.
Speaking at the requiem mass, Namwamba noted that the Narc Kenya Party leader is such a special lady that anyone would wish to have her as a friend.
"It's amazing to have real and true friends no matter what and for that I applaud Martha Karua, she is an amazing human being and a special lady. She has been a true friend to the Kasavuli’s," said the CS.
CS Namwamba also eulogized the late Kasavuli as a woman who ensured that her family is taken care of well when she was alive, adding that she was very close to her family.
The CS said that when he visited Catharine Kasavuli at the Kenyatta Hospital, he found the deceased's family members around her, an indication she left behind a united family
"One thing I’ve learnt in the journey of the late Catherine Kasavuli as she battled cancer, we should take care of our families and be close to them," Namwamba added.
Catherine Kasavuli succumbed to cancer after a long battle with the deadly disease.
CS Namwaba noted that the government needs to do more than what is being done to beat cancer.
"We have to do more as a government in the fight against cancer; we have to invest more at the diagnostic level in order to identify it and deal with it before it becomes a monster," Namwamba said.
Several other leaders attended the burial ceremony of the deceased journalist, including Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula and several others from different parts of the country.
