Scuffle between the Citizen TV Kenya and Ruto's allies are seen to heighten just day's after Oscar Kipchumba Sudi, the Kapseret MP urged the Hustler Nation to boycott watching Citizen TV due to their exaggerative content they aired on Sunday of 5th September, 2021 about Ruto's miscellaneous journey to Kieni.
"I advise the Hustler Nation to desist from watching Citizen TV Kenya. They are taking us back to the dark days of KANU and KADU where biased news were the norm. We can update ourselves using alternative sources like social media platforms. No one is no longer interested in watching mainstream media anymore. It's time we support each other by consuming news from credible sites on social media..."
Since then, lots of attack's have contiued to been directed to the Citizen TV Kenya and even the Media House as campaigns for unsubscribing from their channels continue.
From our first check, when the Kimilili MP Didmus Baraza advised his supporters to unfollow the Citizen TV Kenya Facebook page on 5th September, 2021 on Sunday of this week, the follower's of who had subscribed to Citizen TV Kenya page in Facebook were 4,432,121. Currently today Tuesday of 7th September, 2021 at 9AM, the number of those who have subscribed has reduced drastically to 4,420,634 meaning that 11, 487 of its followers have unscribed themselves from the channel.
This show's how political influence to media can lead to dire effects to the liberty of getting information. The Media house had yesterday briefed that no one has the right to incite the public against any media house. According to Media House, this is a clear sign of intimidation by politicians even as the 2022 general elections approach. They later warned those doing so that they will face consequences i.e. they will oppose their clearances for participation in the general elections .
