Once or atleast twice in a lifetime everyone fells victim of a con. It's an excruciating experience but si ni life; the lesson will give you a sight to spot any kind of con from a mile away.
Bien Aime, shared this harrowing experience on Janjaruka TV a YouTube channel focused on wild cons celebrities have experienced.
As Bien narrates the ordeal, the show promoter didn't appear shady at first. He reeled them in with all the right perks; business class air tickets, a nice hotel, but red flags started showing when they ordered food in the hotel they were booked in.
"We ordered food to our rooms and the hotel manager said the promoter needs to pay for the rooms first" - Bien says.
Even with the challenges the group still delivered a killer performance. Like they always do. And when it was time for payment, Mr. Con promoter said he needed to withdraw cash from the bank and deliver it to them back at the hotel the following day.
It was Christmas eve, the group needed to be back in the country to celebrate Christmas and spend time with family. The promoter pulled off the golden con man line when a frustrated Sauti Sol called him severally - "just give me a few minutes I'll be there" and "I am on my way"
Eventually the group got tired and chose to settle matters of the soul rather than earthly riches which come and go. They left Congo, and that's how a million bob went with the wind. They made it to the airport in the nick of time, travelled home and spent Christmas with their families.
Bien advises artists to 'janjaruka' - to ask for 90% deposit and let 10% be negotiable because once you get on the stage before any payment, you're likely to be conned.
The group recently released their 5th studio album, Midnight Train, that has had great reception from fans within and across the borders. If your yet to listen to it, you should jump aboard.
