Deputy president today had a meeting with a section of musicians in his Karen home.Ruto and the musicians were discussing how the industrt could be supported and promoted.Most of the people were saying that it was a way of campaigning for his presidency in 2022.
Deputy president received critics after the meeting with some selected musicians.Some people called him a thief of the government's funds.Others supported him and said he is a good presidential candidate.Some of the musicians present were :Muigai wa njoroge,Shiru wa Gp,Mary Lincon ,Sammy Irungu,Sammy K and many others.Some of the musicians he met.
He discussed with them how the covid pandemic affected the music industry .He promised to support talents.The deputy president move was seen as a political move.The music industry was really affected by covid .Some artists were requesting Dr Ruto to talk with the government and regulate the many covid restrictions.Some of them for example Khaligraph the famous rap artist said he would campaign for Ruto if the restrictions were loosened .
