Veteran Genge icon Mejja Okwonkwo is back. He had taken a short sabbatical from the music scenes after battling an illness.
reported in early February that the Siku Hizi Ni Kubad crooner had a throat illness after returning from his lined-up concerts in Australia.
Mejja had shared how his symptoms would come and go which didn't sound any alarm until one day when he was brushing his teeth and tried to clear his throat and realised spots of blood.Mejja also followed up with another Instagram post where he revealed that this season taught him who his real friends were.
He has always had a passion for music, which can clearly be traced to his primary school days. His first taste of stardom came when Celtel was holding a talent search all over Kenya. The company was moving all over Kenya, province by province, looking for the top three contestants in each province.
Back in the day, Mejja joined a music group known as ‘Ghetto clan’. He used to sing with his brother Wambugu. During this time, he could barely write his own songs, so he used to rely on borrowed content.
