Maribe freed on Sh1mn cash bail, her fiancé Jowie denied freedom » Capital News"/>
During the court proceedings, it emerged that the former CItizen presenter could be in a state of depression having been bogged down by her ongoing trial in relation to the murder of the businesswoman.
The State Prosecutor Catherine Mwaniki made the depression claim as she claimed that Maribe's lawyer Katwa Kigen had mentioned a similar thing during the previous court proceedings.
“We have to know whether the second accused (Maribe) is mentally fit to follow the proceedings and to continue with the trial and confirm that she is not depressed,” Mwaniki told the court.
“If she is not well, we need to have a mental assessment since all the accused have to be mentally fit to continue with the trial.”
The sassy journalist is out on bail and has maintained a low-profile life for the duration of the case after she was barred from reading or reporting news in relation to the case.
She resigned from Citizen TV in 2019 and has now shifted her focus on hosting political bigwigs on her YouTube channel.
Meanwhile, her ex-boyfriend Joseph ‘Jowie’ Irungu, is also battling murder charges in relation to the cruel death of Monica which reportedly occurred in Kilimani, in 2018.
