Facts You Should Know About The Kenyan Award-Winning Actress, Catherine Kamau Karanja

Catherine Kamau Karanja alias Kate Actress is a Kenyan award-winning actress who is celebrated by many for her role as 'Celina' in popular Citizen TV programme, 'Mother-in-law'; this is the program that first brought her to the limelight. She was born on February 3rd, 1987.

Kate schooled at Chogoria high school. While in school, she participated in the drama activity and she became famous for her role in the club. She then went to Loreto Msongari and there, she won the 'Miss Loreto' award. She proceded to Kenya College of Communication and Technology for diploma in Communications, majoring in Public Relations (PR).

She has featured in such dramas as Citizen TV's 'Mother-in-law' where she took the role of 'Celina' (or Selina) and 'Sue na Jonnie' where she took the role of 'Sue'. Mother-in-law began in 2006. Later on in 2019, she featured in 'Plan B', a romantic comedy where she took the role of 'Joyce'.

Catherine is a youtuber and a content creator and in her youtube channel, she focuses on such topics as; Style, Fashion, lifestyle and motherhood. As she is a victim of teenage pregnancies, she encourages young girls not to be mothers at an early age.

The former Mother-in-law actress got married to former Tahidi High actor and film director, Philip Karanja in November 2017; they celebrated a lavish wedding together and their honeymoon was in Seychelles. They have been blessed with one child, a daughter, baby Karla. Her husband also adopted her son, Leon Karanja whom she gave birth to when she was still in school, at 19 years of age. The couple celebrated their 3rd anniversary on November last year and are looking forward to celebrate their 4th one together come November.

On 3rd July 2021, Catherine's son, Leon, was celebrating her 15th birthday. On her official instagram account, she posted her son's pictures and contrasted the change when he was younger and the current picture to show that he has grown.
