Badi was born at a Muslim family of seven in Kitui County. He is a husband to one wife and father to two children though information about the family is not exposed.
He is famed for Kiswahili news show "Dira ya Dunia" on KBC(Kenya Broadcasting Channel). He has served as an anchor for about thirty years.In 2020, he underwent surgery to remove stones in his kidney, a source reported. In the same year 2020,he made a comeback from retirement to anchor Saturday's news at 7pm dubbed "Dira ya Magwiji" on KBC.
He passed away on Friday October 8,2021,at 4pm at the age of 67 at Mombasa hotel after a short illness. He travelled to Mombasa to Interview Tabu for "Dira ya Magwiji" the Swahili news segment he hosts on weekends.The veterinarian anchor had his lunch and complained of illness.The brother, Hafidh Muhsin inquired him of seeking medical attention through the phone but he insisted of being well. He took a nap but never woke up.
