Residents of Manyara in shock as a 22-year old woman stabbed another 21-year old woman for allegedly snatching her boyfriend.
Awino was rushed toJaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital at 2am on Thursday by well-wishers but unfortunately succumbed to the injuries.
Eyewitnesses say Awino was walking with the man at the centre of the fatal fight, when Michelle confronted her and had a fight before the ordeal transpired.
Laura Awino, a friend to the deceased said she saw the suspect arguing with the couple shortly before Michelle whipped out a knife and stabbed Merceline in the chest at 8pm.
“I heard her (Michelle) asking Merceline why she snatched her boyfriend,” said Laura.
“She, thereafter, attacked Merceline and fled,” Laura added.
Confirming the incidentis the Kisumu East Sub-County Police Commander James Musyimi who said that a manhunt for the suspect is ongoing, and that the 21-year-old man who was being fought over is in police custody assisting with investigations.
The body of Merceline was moved to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Hospital’s morgue awaiting autopsy.
