One of Kenya's most well-known comedians has become the latest star to enter the political arena in 2022. MC Jesse, actual name Jasper Muthomi, has announced his candidacy for the South Imenti Constituency Member of Parliament (MP).
Today, he joined deputy President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance Party in order to contest for August Polls. Having been received by Dp Ruto at his own Karen residence, Jesse revealed that he consulted the people of Imenti south.
He added that, Dp Ruto then called him and it is a call he didn't want to ignore. Excited Jesse hinted of initiating grassroots mobilization in order to woo more supporters to his side.
The comedian is well known for his long-running roles as a regular on the Churchill Show, hosted by Daniel Ndambuki, and as the host of Churchill Raw.
He also manages his own marketing agency, BrandFace Media Ltd, and broadcasts Jesse Junction, an online talk program he founded after the Covid-19 epidemic broke out in 2020.
