Renowned TV anchor Zubeda Kananu has added another feather to her cap after she was elected the Vice President of the Kenya Editors Guild during the annual general meeting held yesterday. Taking to her social media pages, the seasoned TV journalist thanked her colleagues in the media for entrusting her with the powerful seat.
Kananu noted that she has a daunting task ahead as the Vice President but with courage and teamwork, she will drive the media industry to another level.
''This has been such a profound experience. I am proud. I am grateful. Stepping out of my comfort for the second time, as a woman, as a mom, a wife, a journalist, taking on this challenge for me is beyond just being a Vice President.
It’s about change. It’s about bravery. It’s about courage. In the new world of media and diversity, we need to step change our capabilities, make wholistic wellness a core part of our systems, action diversity, not just say, but do. Is it easy? No. But with courage and bravery, and in working together, we will drive the next level of our industry,'' she wrote on her Instagram page.
The Kenya Editor's Guild is a professional association for editors in Kenya. The association is tasked with promoting media freedom and ethical journalism.
Zubeda Kananu started her media career as an intern in 2007. She rose through the ranks to become a Senior News Anchor at KTN.
