
Catherine Kasavuli has passed on at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) where she has been on treatment for cancer.The announcement of her death was confirmed by KBC acting managing director Samuel Maina.Kasavuli has a commendable historic past in Kenya's media space since she was the first woman to air a live broadcast at KTN in 1985.
Details have emerged that in her first employment in the media industry, Dorothy Anyang' Nyongo, wife to the current Kisumu govenor was amongst the panel that selected her for her first job at Voice of Kenya where she became a continuity announcer.
A local publication has revealed that in a previous interview, Catherine Kasavuli had said that they were ten when they first went for the interview,but later they were shortlisted and remained three.
"We were 10 of us at the interview, but we were scaled down to three.Dorothy Nyong’o, Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang Nyongo’s wife, was in the interviewing panel,” Catherine Kasavuli recalled.
