Using the example of her Nigerian uncle who is now happily married to his wife for over 20 years despite being in a long distance relationship for most of the times, Chiki Kuruka actually advocated for couples to support each other even when it means not being close to one another all the time.
" My uncle and aunt are the couple I look up to the most in my life. They live like homies, 20 years strong. My uncle is a journalist and travels alot, my aunt is a BOSS *** B, and travels for productions alot too. But their friendship keeps them strong. The idea of being shackled to someone feels inherently wrong to me, but the ability to grow as an individual, alongside someone who has your back, is so simply wonderful."
She further reiterated how her aunt and uncle's relationship has inspired her to believe that things can still work, despite the distance.
" We are Nigerians, so my uncle moves from Nigeria to Kenya, SA and UK alot. When I asked him, where is home then? He simply said 'My Wife'.
Thank you guys for showing me that home and partnership is EXACTLY what you make it."
Chiki Kuruka and her husband Bien Aimé Baraza have been happily married for over a year now.
The lovebirds tied the knot in March 2020 and it was a low-key union reportedly held at the Attorney General's office.
