Meet Karisa, Man Who Has Lived Without Shoes For 70 Years and Not Ready To Wear Any in His Lifetime

Mzee Karisa Kaingu is undoubtedly among the most popular residents in Mitangoni village in Ganze, Kilifi County. For about seven decades, the man has never worn shoes.

Mzee Karisa is so keen against wearing shoes, such that he has even indicated not to be buried in shoes when he dies. Funny enough, Karisa loves suits so dearly but not shoes.

However, the aging man never denies his wife and children from wearing shoes.

"I do not stop my wife and children from wearing shoes, but I will not wear shoes even when I die...," reveals Karisa adding that even when he dies he should not be fitted with shoes.

Karisa stated how he ended up hating shoes after growing seeing his parents without any. He further added that he felt proud walking barefooted since he felt like wearing shoes.

What stuns many is how he manages to live in such hot areas, since he walks without shoes for so long distances. Even without the shoes, he never feels ashamed in the midst of people wearing suits and shoes since he is proud of his culture.

Despite all that, his wife still loves and respects him. She is even so keen to ensure that his husband's wishes not to be buried in shoes are keenly adhered to.
