The artist, populary known as Mugithi Master, vied as an independent candidate after he failed to clinch UDA ticket during nominations that were held in April.
In a Facebook post moments after receiving his certificate from IEBC Kiharu Returning Officer, Gathee said he will continue performing and recording songs while still doing MCA job.

He said he will emulate former legendary benga musician George Wa Njaro who despite being a high school mathematics teacher was was a recording artist.
Gathee said his colleague Samuel Muchoki alias Samidoh was an Administration Police officer in addition to being a musician.

"The music journey is still there to continue I feal Energized like av started again office hours are Day time and entertainment is done at late hours. We have Good example of Mwalimu George WANJARO who was a high school teacher and the same time a performing artist. We have SAMIDOH who is a cop and a Performing Artist, Therefore tupatane Pale Pale , Masaa Ile Ile,tukifanya vile vile," he said.
Mugithi Master who is a Kenyatta University graduate in Business Administration pledged to work with his supporters as well as his opponents to develop their ward.

"We shall work together and Make Gaturi Better, Remember politics is just competition but not enemity. We are all Brothers and sisters nobody should be victimized that he or she did not support this ot that. A leader is there for everyone. To all the other Aspirants;you didn't lose we won together, We Will join hards and see How we can make 5 years work easier by Combination of ideas coz we are Friends," Gathee stated.
The youthful leader said his victory was an encouragement and inspiration to young people that they are equal to different tasks and that no human is limited.
