The news, as expected, shocked many Kenyans who had grown fond of him. The late starred in many popular adverts and TV shows.
Even as Papa continues a well-deserved rest, Jalang’o made sure that the first anniversary of his death did not pass quietly.
In his latest Bonga Na Jalas edition, the long-time friend of Papa Shirandula brought together friends and family in one set to celebrate and remember the icon.
The guests on the Jalang’o TV, who also starred in the Papa Shirandula TV show, included Wilbroda, Juma Anderson, Awinja, Otoyo, Nyagothie and Njoro. And true to their nature, there is a lot of laughter in remembering Papa with never before heard revelations.
For instance, one thing learnt from the reunions of Papa’s friends and workmates is that Nyagothie is not even a Kikuyu. She narrates how Papa used to encourage her to sit next to a certain Kikuyu driver to learn the Kikuyu lingo.
Nyagothie even performs the signature walk she was known for in the Citizen TV Show, which drew laughter from her colleagues.
To Jalang’o and friends, that was a beautiful tribute to Papa. Long may it continue and may Papa continue resting easy.
