Elsa Majimbo, a Kenyan social media sensation who went viral around the world through videos shared on her digital platforms during the Corona virus pandemic, made headlines again on January 20 when American TV and radio host Steve Harvey pledged her his entire support. Harvey praised her accomplishments in a video she shared online yesterday and said that he had adopted her.
“I’ll adopt you as my niece. I’ll give you my phone number. I don’t care what you need, just call me,” Harvey promised.Steve Harvey stated during the show that one of his main aims is to bridge the gap between Africa and African Americans, sentiments which drew applause from the audience. However, this is not the first time Elsa has been recognized by a global celebrities.
In September 2020, American singer Rihanna signed Majimbo a lucrative deal as a brand ambassador with her Fenty Beauty Cosmetics. Majimbo praised Rihanna and Fenty Beauty Cosmetics for the opportunity to work with them on her Instagram page when she announced the news. Majimbo also shared the letter she received from the artist when she first started her career. In the letter, Rihanna wrote: “You a baddie and you know it. And your reel was fire!” Rihanna signed off the letter as ‘Your childhood friend’.
Lupita Nyongo, the Oscar winner for Best Actress in a Leading Role also showed her support to Majimbo when she tweeted about her content in May 20202 and encouraged people to follow her. “Elsa Majimbo has been making me laugh recently. If you haven't seen her comedy videos yet, go follow her right now!” read the tweet while in 2021, American rapper Snoop Dogg also shared one of Elsa's Instagram videos, in which she is seen snacking crisps while explaining why she is unable to socialize due to the Coronavirus pandemic. On Instagram alone, the video has gained over 12 million views.
