There has been endless debate on the status of Gengetone music that ruled the airwaves for the better part of last year. Gengetone groups such as Sailors, Ethic, Boondlock Gang just to name a few have gone mum, leading to claims that Gengetone is dead.

Controversial singer Willy Pozze sparked debate on the status of Gengetone music after he posted a cryptic message on his Instagram page trolling Gengetone artists. "Rip Gengetone Finally" Pozze posted and sparked alot of reactions.

This has prompted VDJ Jones who is one of the Gengetone ambassadors to react. VDJ Jones admitted that Gengetone has lost relevance but said that Gengetone artists managed to rule the airwaves and send away foreign music that had dominated the airwaves.

He further urged his fellow Gengetone artists to restructure, regroup and rule the airwaves again.

"I think everyone should experience defeat at one point during their career. You learn a lot from it, everyone falls but what matters is how u get back up! My Gengetone family, they might troll u all they want, but we did something they couldn't do their whole careers. We ruled the airwaves, sent away foreign music. Let's restructure, regroup and rule. Pamoja Tunaweza!," he posted on his official Instagram page.
