It is yet another sad day as Kenya looses a former TV star to Covid-19 complications. Winnie Mukami, former KBC and NTV news anchor has passed on.
She started working at KBC but it was while working at Nation Media Group that her ratings rose very high and was often ranked as one of the top anchors alongside other TV personalities like Catherine Kasavuli, Swaleh Mdoe, Louis Otieno and Sophie Ikenye.
Before making it to national TV, Winnie Mukami was willing to do whatever it took to help her parents provide for her siblings and that included doing odd jobs.
Mukami sold porridge to manual workers at construction sites in Kitengela before she joined the EPZ as a tailor. Her big break came in 2001 when she applied and got a job at the state broadcaster KBC. After working at KBC for two years, she joined NTV in 2003 where she worked for seven years before she was unceremoniously sacked from the station to pave way for new blood.
