KUPET Sets Higher Salary Increments Than KNUT in CBA Talks, Will TSC Accept This New Salary Demand?

The teachers are doing their best to ensure that they clear the syllabus before the commencement of the national examinations that are coming in March this year. The class eight and form four candidates of 2021 are set for their exams.Ministry of Education CS Professor George Magoha has said that the exams will be favourable for the candidates and hence they should not panic.

As teachers do their best, their unions are back to the discussion table with the employer. In July last year,SRC dissapointed teachers after cancelling all the CBAs due to the hard economic times that the country was going through. This forced teachers through their unions to accept a non monetary CBA.Luckily the negotiations are back.

Early this week,KNUT's proposals for salary increment were revealed to be between 15-20%.Knut wants the lowest paid teachers to earn ksh 27,195.However,Kuppet has wants more percentage than Knut.Kuppet wants salary increment of between 30-70%.This means that the lowest paid teacher should earn ksh 34,955 while the highest paid teacher should earn a basic salary of ksh 153,715 .Will TSC accept the union's request?
