Jubilation to All Teachers as TSC Assures Them The Following During Promotions, Appointments

Good new to all teachers in the country as Teachers Service Commission (TSC) assures them the following during promotions and appointments. Teaching profession in Kenya has been facing several challenges including understaffing, unemployment, delocalisation issue and promotions. According to the report shared earlier last week, several teachers have stagnated in the same job group for more than ten years or more. However, Teachers Service Commission (TSC) assured that they will deal with the issue once the government will give them finances.

Impressively, Teachers Service Commission (TSC) boss Nancy Macharia told the Parliamentary Committee for Education that the Commission embraces fair competition and merit as the basis of appointment and promotions.

According to the report shared by the Star News, TSC boss Nancy Macharia further revealed that the Commission regularly reviews it's policies to ensure the realisation of constitutional aspiration on gender balance, fair competition and employment of persons with disabilities.

Therefore to make this promotion criteria very scientific and fair TSC should adopt a mechanism that takes into account the number of years served in a certain job group the way the number of years after graduation counts during fresh TCS recruitment interviews. To my views this will make sure no teacher stagnates in a certain grade for long.
