The Teachers Service Commission TSC is the one that is in charge of teachers in the country. TSC is headed by Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia.
According to the latest information by the Saturday Nation, TSC has decided to drop the tender it had given to My Kenya University, Riara University, and KEMI to help teachers in capacity building and professional development.
According to Nancy Macharia who spoke yesterday to the National Assembly Implementation Committee, they had earlier settled on those private universities after public universities failed to apply for the tender.
She revealed that TSC will now be using the teacher training colleges for the same.
It should be noted that earlier when this program started many people including teachers questioned why TSC chose those private universities.
In my view, this might be cheaper for teachers because they won't be traveling to far places to acquire these services.
