Schools Should Resume On September As School Calendar Commences in January Next Year" Opinion

School resumption is now on crossroads as a decision on whether schools should resume as scheduled or not have not been met. The ministry of health and that of education are working hand in hand to ensure a proper and amicable agreement is met.

About 50% of teachers in the country have already received the first jab of the vaccine and in a period of around three or so months they will have received the second jab, and thus completing the vaccination rollout.

According to the ministry of health, teachers and the none teaching staff are the ones at risk and with teachers vaccinated the risk will be fully in control and schools will resume to normalcy.

The importance of the vaccination therefore might force school resumption to be pushed to may, as the government works on vaccinating all the teachers.

On the other hand, it is a constitutional requirement that school calendar should commence in January in both primary and high school levels. Therefore, this might serve as the best opportunity to bring the school calendar to normalcy as is required.
