Coronavirus disease was reported last year. It later spread to all the 47 counties in a short period. President Uhuru Kenyatta took an early measure by ordering the closure of many sectors of the economy including all learning institutions.
Children were at home for almost 9 months without any formal teaching. They reopened after measures were put in place.
Again the vaccination exercise began with the teachers given priority. This was so because they handle children from various regions.
Teachers employed by the Teachers Service Commission(TSC) are more than 300,000. Data from the Ministry of Health indicates that 126,153 teachers have taken the second jab. Generally, a total of 3,290,450 has so far been administered across the country.
In my perception, it is crucial if all of them accept to be vaccinated. Remember they handle various children.
