In the past few months, parents and other stakeholders complained about the new competence-based curriculum. Law Society of Kenya President Nelson Havi took the matter to the high Court to stop the implementation of the curriculum.

The petition requested the court to stop it until proper framework and procedure that suits all is found.

Teachers and parents had complained that the curriculum is too demanding for them yet they're not ready. Schools and parents felt overwhelmed from the demands of the education system.

As the period took several months, Havi on Thursday gave good news to those who were challenging the curriculum. Through his Facebook page, "Justice Anthony Mrima has certificate CBC Petition as raising substantial and novel issues requiring consideration by an uneven number of judges, being not less than 5 to be assigned by the Chief Justice. Mention on 7-12-2021 before a bench appointed by the Chief Justice," said Havi.
