The Covid 19 pandemic caused a halt in the school calendar as learning had to be stopped to contain the spread of the virus. The students and teachers took the longest time out of school that has never been witnessed before in the country as the holiday ran for more than seven months. Learners started reporting on a slow basis starting with candidate class then followed by the whole school even as healthy protocols to curb the spread of the virus was a challenge in most schools.
Today as the president was delivering his speech for Labor day celebrations, he gave an order for schools to be opened as planned by the ministry of education. He also maintained that the calendar must be followed to the latter for teachers and students as days for opening draws closer. Immediately after his speech the Ministry of Education released the revised school calenders for primary, secondary and tertiary institutions.
The calendar runs all the way to 2023 with changes in the dates of national exams and sporting activities. The ministry however in their statements said that changes are bound to be made from time to time. Below is the calendar of school term dates;
