On 28, June 2022, the Council of Legal Education published a list of all Universities approved to offer Law Courses in Kenya, they have also included the other 10 Universities whose approval is still pending.
In addition, the council revealed that only two institutions were approved to provide Masters in Law programme. The two includes, Strathmore whose period was extended up to 2024 and Mount Kenya University, whose period was also moved up to 2024.
12 other Universities will offer Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) and Diploma in Law will be studied in three universities across the country. Only one university failed to meet the requirements as of June 30, 2022 and the licenses of 10 other institutions are still pending.
The list of other universities who got approval to offer Bachelor's of Degree in Law includes, Egerton University, which received an extension of up to June 2026, Kabarak University her license was extended to June 2026, Africa Nazarene University was extended to December 2025.
The might Moi University, Chuka University and the University of Nairobi were extended up to December 2025. Umma University, have until September 2025 to offer law coursed, whereas Embu University and Kisii University will offer Degree in law up to April 2024.
Daystar University have up to July 2023 to offer law course, Mt Kenya University have until July 2023 and University of Nairobi have up to 2023.
The Kisii University, Mt Kenya University and Kenya Institute of Management are the only three universities approved to offer Diploma in Law.
The list of other universities who have pending approval includes; Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA),JKUAT, Kenyatta University - Parklands Campus, Maseno University and Strathmore University.
