Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has recently made the news because of his degree saga. The Senator has been involved in confrontations with the Commission for University Education over the legitimacy of his degree from Team University in Uganda.
The Commission for University Education has already revoked the recognition of Sakaja's degree twice. Something that put Sakaja's candidacy for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in jeopardy.
The controversy surrounding Sakaja's degree has even attracted Ugandan officials with Uganda's National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) wanting to probe Sakaja's degree.
However, Team University has come to the aid of Sakaja and has moved to court seeking to stop the probe. The University is petitioning the High Court in Kampala to restrain the NCHE from investigating the degree it awarded the Senator.
If something wrong is found with Sakaja's degree, he could be disqualified from the gubernatorial race. Sakaja and Jubilee's Polycarp Igathe are the leading candidates in the race.
