Tuesday's Sigh of Relief to Teachers on TPD As KNUT Now Takes a Bold Step Towards Their Grievances

The teachers are currently struggling to complete the term two syllabus. The new CBC curriculum has increased the teachers' workloads.Just last week,Daily Nation published that the Kenyan teachers are among the most overworked. At the same time,it also emerged that teachers are exiting TSC in mass leaving a huge teachers shortages.

The teachers were recently surprised when the Commission rolled out the TPD modules without giving them any notice. What surprised the teachers most is that the trainings will go for 30 years and they will be required to pay for the trainings. This has really angered the teachers whom some have suffered by being transferred after opposing the trainings.Teachers Pressure Group Chairperson Martha Omollo suffered in this together with other teachers.

It is now a sigh of relief for teachers. The teachers union Knut has taken a bold move to meet the MPs today in a bid to share with them the issues that the teachers have raised. The Knut top organ will meet the lawmakers. This leaves teachers with hope but will the Commission change its mind even pay for the trainings in case the union and MPs resolve so?.Teachers Arena has reported about this meeting.
