Kipsigis Girls is one of the best performing school in Kericho County. Kipsigis Girls High School is a National Girls Boarding School located 5 kilometers from Kericho town in Kenya.

On Sunday October 24, 2021 the school was indefinitely closed down due to students riots. Students demonstrated after their principal Madam Julianna Kirui was transferred to Moi Girls High School in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu county. Madam Julianna Kirui had been replaced by Madam Christine Chumba.

The students demonstrated early Sunday accusing the new teacher of introducing new regulations and harassment allegations. According to students, new principal had come up with regulation that they are to comfortable with. Students now want Madam Julianna Kirui to be reinstated. School has since closed down and the date for resumption of studies will be communicated.

"Kipsigis Girls High School closed indefinitely after students protest over transfer of Principal," read the statement.

This happens at a time schools are struggling to cover syllabus on time following reduced academic calendar that has seen academic year reduce from initial 39 weeks to 30 weeks.
