As the teachers are putting efforts in implementing the competency based curriculum CBC,the kenya institute of curriculum has asked teachers to give learners reasonable assignments.
Following the outcry over the ambiguity of extended work to learner's and cry of the parents in the recent past,the body has said that the assignments should be pocket friendly to parents and should also be within the learner's ability.n
In the recent past the parents were complaining of which they termed as incurring costs in a bid to meet assignments given by teachers to the learner's in School.
A media post by KICD read, "The spirit of CBC is to leverage on readily available materials to facilitate learning.Tasks involving undue costs to parents should be avoided."
Parents are also being called by KICD to support learner's by offering conducive environment for studying and providing materials required to enable smooth CBC implementation.
KICD has also told the parents to report to school headteachers or at the ministry of education officers countrywide if the teachers issue learner's unsuitable homework.
