Thousands Locked Out Of Teachers Training Colleges Over New Qualifications

A big number of form four leavers who have interest in joining teaching profession now suffer a major blow as new qualifications for admission into the Teachers Training Colleges lock them out.

This is likely to be a great burden in the implementation of Competency Based Curriculum as few candidates will be selected to join TTC Colleges. It is a great blow that thousands of candidates who applied for diploma training in primary teaching and ECDE did not meet the requirements.

Candidates who are willing to join Teachers Training Colleges must have a mean grade of C plain in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, a C plain in Mathematics, English, Kiswahili, one science and one humanity to adjust to the pre-service Teacher training to the demands of CBC.

Students who are still in school are advised to work hard to score better grades that will help them sharpen their future careers. Incase a student wishes to join any TTC, must try as much as possible to meet the qualifications required to be a teacher.
