Teachers Given a New Role as School Heads Instructed to Ensure Immediate Implementation

The transition from the 8.4.4 to 2.6.6.3 system has been seen as a game changer for the students who are thirsty for Education. The 8.4.4 system has been seen as not so much beneficial to the students owing to the fact that it is exams oriented. The new system will however rectify these loopholes and instead leave the learners with the prerequisite skills after the completion of their studies.

Inorder to achieve this, teachers have been undergoing different trainings on CBC curriculum at different levels. The classroom side and the assessment side through KNEC have got teachers become well and frequently trained. However, these trainings have seen teachers' roles get increased in schools.Currently, the teachers can spend hours scheming and making the lesson plans for the next lessons as compared to back then.

The Government has enacted the guidelines that will see the teachers play critical roles in the lives of the students in schools and communities as far as the drug substance abuse is concerned by the students.Surprisingly, the teachers who aid abuse of drugs in schools will be dealt with accordingly by TSC.

In the process of curbing the menace in schools, the teachers will get new roles. The school heads have been instructed to ensure that there is the health committee that will work tirelessly hard to ensure the implementation of the guidelines on drug abuse in schools.

Under normal circumstances, the schools do have only one or two health teachers which some schools don't even have. Now,the teachers have to take up this role as a committee, meet and have minutes. The Education ministry has promised impromptu visits in schools hence, the schools should not be found on the offside. This is contained in role (a) of the school administrator below:
