Confusion To Parents And Teachers After Schools Reopened For First Term

Primary and secondary schools reopened officially yesterday for all learners except the KCSE candidates who will report to various institutions as from 05/08/2021. Teaching and learning for this term is scheduled to take a very short period of time. The 2021 first term as per the academic calendar will took effect from 26/07/2021 to 01/10/2021.

The 2021 academic year is really a marathon which deserve much commitments. The half term and holidays are scheduled to take a very short period too.

As schools have reopened parents, teacher and schools administrators are now worried about congestion in schools and also the covid 19 disease. The schools population is expected to rise in various secondary schools due to 100% transition of learners from primary to secondary schools.

The number of students in secondary schools is expected to increase by 400,000 students more than the previous years. It has remained the Principals task to ensure that limited space they have accommodates the extra number of students in schools. This is really a great blow to parents and students as the chances of learners to contract covid 19 disease is high due to congestion. It is a great confusion since it is hard to maintain social distancing of learners in schools to avoid spread of covid 19. The government is advised to cheap in and assist the situation by building enough structures to cater for the students in schools.
