A dramatic scene has been witnessed at Learning St. Benedict Arror Secondary school in Elgeyo Marakwet after bandits attacked the area suspending learning for the better part of the day in the school.
It alleged that students were taking lunch at the time of the incident before gunshots were heard all of a sudden making everyone in the school compound to go berserk.
Moments later, villagers and learners from other schools flocked in the school claiming that it was the safest place to seek shelter. Bandits from the neighboring community are said to have attacked residents in a quest to raid cattle which prompted villagers to run for safety.
The area police quickly swang into action and managed to cool the situation at the school. Students have however found it hard to come to terms with the incident and a psychologist has been called to talk to them to see if everything will go back to normal.
The police have since launched investigation into the incident.
