Teachers service Commission has a constitutional Mandate to register, hire, promote and excercise disciplinary Control over it's workforce.
Pursuant to it's Mandate, the commission has made a request to parliament to be allocated Ksh 10 Billion for the next financial year.
Part of the Money will be used to promote teachers who have Stagnated in job groups while the rest will be used to hire teachers on permanent and pensionable terms and interns.
According to TSC CEO Dr Nancy Macharia, the monies are part of critical areas that were not catered for in the last financial year ending June.
"The Commission would appreciate any facilitation for these areas to receive allocation". Said macharia.
The CEO told Parliament that the commission will require Ksh 2 Billion to promote teachers on competitive terms while it will also require Ksh 1.2 Billion to hire intern teachers and Ksh 5.3bn to hire 8000 teachers on permanent basis.
Macharia was making a presentation to the Parliament Committee on Education on Consideration for budget policy statement for 2022/2023
This will be good news to teachers who have Stagnated in job groups like as there is hope of moving to the next grade which means improved terms of service.
It will also be good news to many Unemployed teachers who are already registered with teachers service Commission
