Recently, the Teachers Service Commission directed that all teachers must be trained on the Teacher Professional Development modules. The Teachers Service Commission Chief Executive Officer Madam Nancy Macharia said that the plan of TPD is to professionalise the Teaching fraternity to match other careers like law and engineering. Mrs Macharia said that she has always had times when negotiating salaries since Teachers are refered to as unskilled or semi-skilled.
The Teachers Service Commission now recieve sad news as most Teachers have rejected the TSC TPD modules. Teachers from Migori county, Laikipia County among other teachers are now against Teacher Professional Development modules training.
Some teachers say that the training is expensive since Teachers will be forced to pay for the exercise. Some teachers are now in trouble since they have loans therefore raising money for the training is hard. Others were delocalized and left their families therefore during the one week holiday that they are set to go for the training the will not have time for the training as they will visit their beloved.
