Bad News to Teachers as TSC cancels promotions Deal amid protests by teachers.

It is sad News to Teachers as their employer Teachers Service Commission (TSC) cancels promotions despite the teachers protest for the same. Following an advert, TSC had posted 14,738 promotion vacancies by the end of 2022.

According to Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Teachers have stuck in the same job group without promotion for years and wanted a legit promotion deal.

KUPPET Chairman Mr. Milemba backed the cancellation deal for promotion and asked the Commission to Increase the Vacancies for many tutors are demotivated by being in the same job group for years. He added that very many deserving teachers would be left out.

“People deserving promotion are not the target of the advertisement. These are teachers in C3 and C4 job groups. It is a drop in the ocean." Mr Milemba said.

According to TSC, only 3,392 promotion vacancies would have gone to secondary schools with the rest going to primary schools. This was not fair to teachers since many vacancies are arising from retirements, resignations and even deaths but their replacements are yet to be refilled.

Mr Milemba blamed the commission for not promoting teachers, thus making them lose benefits such as enhanced medical cover.
