Blow to Multimedia University first years after this Memo was released

Last week Multimedia University announced reopening dates for its students for face-to-face learning. This was going to be Monday 26th October, 2020. However, the case has changed for first year students after this recent memo from the Registrar Academic Affairs (AA) was released on Thursday 22nd October, 2020.

According to the memo, new first year students (September, 2020 intake) students undertaking science/practical-based courses will not report for face-to-face learning as indicated in an earlier memo. This cancellation has been attributed to the recent surge in Covid-19 cases in the country.

Part of the memo reads: “Reference is made to our earlier memo dated 16th October, 2020 to new first year students (September, 2020 intake) students undertaking s=Science/practical-based courses, on reopening of the Universities for in-person (face to face) learning that was scheduled to commence on Monday 26th October, 2020 at our Mbagathi Campus. We wish to inform you that owing to emerging challenges related to the news spike in COVID-19 cases reported in the country, the proposed face to face learning has been cancelled.”

The Registrar however stated that the institution will continue providing lectures to the new first year students online until further notice.
