Brian Lishenga an aspirant who wants to be elected as a senator in Kakamega county was a student from the University of Nairobi. Brian Leshenga has stated that prior 3 days to the end of year 4 examination he suspended from the University. 
This was the year 2004 being suspended because of mobilizing students to to cook their own delicious meals in hostels because the food cooked from the University messes was of low quality. 
All the top leadership students in Student Organisation of University of Nairobi (SONU) was suspended to clear the wing that was in charge of mobilizing students.
Brian Lishenga stated that his political journey has been fruitful and he believes that if elected as the senator of Kakamega county he has all what entails to serve the residents in Kakamega county. 
His opponent is Dr Boni Khalwale who also desires to be elected as the senator of Kakamega county.
