Reprieve For KCPE And KCSE Candidates as CS Magoha Assures Them of This

Last year on October, the government through the ministry of education sought to establish Std 8 pupils’ performance levels in subjects examined in KCPE after the prolonged closure of schools.

A national examination for the class 8 pupils was therefore administered, marking was done and the analysis of their performance was also done. The performance analysis report showed half of the candidates could barely make the 50 per cent cut-off mark in that test.

This proved that most learners were really impacted by the closure of childcare programs and schools since they were unable to engage with their tutors through out the pandemic period.

The government tried all it could to engage the learners through education programmes on Radio and television but all their efforts were in vain because some children could not get access to them.

This caused a lot of tension among the candidates who are expected to sit for their national exams in less than a months time.

However, government through the Ministry of education has calmed down tension among this year's KCPE and KCSE candidates after announcing that the setting and marking of the exams will factor in the time learners lost during the nine-month Covid-19 shutdown.

That however does not mean that the candidates should relax. We wish the all the best and success in their future endeavors. May God bless them
